Burgers + Machine Guns

Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial hosted a fun shoot today in Townsend, MT. We thought it was going to get cancelled because it was snowing in Bozeman this morning, but once we got to Belgrade, it was nothing but blue skies! They were still setting up when we arrived, so we were able to chat and get to know them a little bit. Jason, USCCA instructor, was the one who organized this event and said that it was their second year. He said the first year they spent most of the time training, and wanted to focus more on the fun stuff this year. No complaints from us!

6 GCGC members showed up to this event, and it was so fun! We laid out our AR-15s on a table to “show them off” to one another, with the intention of using them later on.

The event started a little later than planned because everyone was running a bit late, but eventually it got going. They told us about Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial Park, their non-profit, and their upcoming events. We then had a little overview on safety and then we all got to shoot a fully automatic AR-15, which was provided by Jason our USCCA instructor! This went on for about an hour, giving everyone a chance to shoot. During this time was when the wind picked up and it was freezing the rest of the event. They provided yummy burgers and sodas. And when you donated, you were able to get a hat or t-shirt.

After lunch we also got to shoot an fully automatic MP5 and AK-47, both provided by Langley Munitions, Inc. We all were having so much fun shooting all three guns, that we didn’t even get to shoot our own AR-15’s.

We had a really great time, and we hope to go again next year!
